We deliver innovative therapeutic interventions within a gallery setting
OGL aims to offer an intervention that is about creativity and involvement. Through music and art followed by the use of our gallery we work towards enabling service users, patients and the community to believe in themselves and recognise that their contribution is important, valued and appreciated
We use music to help clients achieve therapeutic goals through the development of the musical and therapeutic relationship. Music therapists work with the natural musicality styles and genres including free improvisation to offer appropriate, sensitive and meaningful musical interaction with their clients
Jon Hall, Co founder of Outsider Gallery says
“through this work participants are afforded a ‘musical mirror’ through which they can observe their well-functioning selves, and being in social and cultural connection to the wider world”.
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. Within this context, art is not used as diagnostic tool but as a medium to address emotional issues which may be confusing and distressing
